Open Spotify on the desktop app or web player. Use Search to find what you want. Play any one of these ways: Hover your cursor over a track and click the Play button on the left. Double-click a track name. Click an album or playlist in Browse. Click the green PLAY button below an artist, album, or playlist title. Click again to PAUSE. Open Settings App and go to System. Change music quality
Turn music quality up to hear the finer details or turn it down to save data.
Note: You can’t change audio settings when using Spotify Connect to play on another device.
You can have different settings for listening online (streaming quality) or offline (download quality).
Higher streaming quality uses more data, and higher download quality uses more space.
- Tap Home .
- Tap Settings .
- Under Music Quality, select your preferred settings.
- Click in the top-right corner and select Settings.

You can’t adjust music quality on the web player. Download the app to get more features.
Podcast quality

On mobile/tablet, if you change the music quality to low, the podcast quality will also lower to approximately 24kbit/s.
Use the app to play music files stored on your device, which we call local files.
Note: Files or downloads from illegal sources are not permitted.

- On desktop, import your local files (with the 'Desktop' steps).
- Add the files to a new playlist.
- Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same WiFi as your desktop.
- Go to Settings > Local Files and switch on Local audio files.

Supported file types
Note: Some of your files may be protected in restricted formats. Install QuickTime on your computer to allow most of these tracks to be played on Spotify.

- .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)
The iTunes lossless format (M4A) isn't supported.
